Novell to Microsoft Migration Update



Colleagues:  You may know that the District is preparing for a migration from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange.  Our email service will change. We hope that this information will help you to prepare and answer most questions that you may have about the process.  

How do I get ready for this change?   These are the steps that we have asked users to take. These were incorporated into the teachers’ end of year technology checklists:   

  • Delete all unnecessary emails from your GroupWise Inbox, Cabinet, Junk Folder, Sent Items, etc.
  • If you have an archive already, copy it to your My Documents folder. As an added precaution, make an additional copy to your flash drive.
  • If you do not have an archive already, don’t create one.
  • If you need help of any kind with these processes, please contact the Help Desk at 817.299.4357.

Are you interested in information about calendar items, new usernames, new passwords, the new format for email addresses, training options, features that you may miss in GroupWise, legal names, what happens to your old email address, how to access your new email account, iPhone support, forwarding procedures, and timelines?

Log into, select helpdesk, click on the Knowledge Base tab, and select the Microsoft Migration Bulletin Update and FAQs. You’ll be glad that you did!
