Virus Outbreak Update
Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to address this morning’s malware outbreak in the District.
Our spam filter has been updated to prevent these latest mutations from coming into the District, and your cooperation is helping to prevent their spread among computers on the MISD network.
Fortunately, due to the recent Microsoft Active Directory upgrades, we now have the ability to determine who is logged into computers that are infected so that your computer can be shut down if it is infected and you can be contacted directly.
- Initially, infected computers have to be shut down so that the malware can’t replicate. It must remain off until it is cleaned.
- Secondly, a technician has to go out to the computer and clean it.
This is a very time consuming process.
This is an important reminder . . . Don’t open attachments sent from people that you do not know. Just delete the messages.
