Tech Training for Subs: What do you think?
The fourth annual technology survey is producing valuable feedback for our team already. Thank you for taking the time to reflect, respond, and add comments!
We share your commitment to ensuring that your multimedia resources can benefit your students even when you can’t be at school. Earlier this year, Technology Development conducted a substitute teacher technology training pilot at Lillard Intermediate School. Substitute teachers who completed training received usernames and passwords.
There were a few questions on the survey about the planned online technology orientation for substitute teachers. Here are a few clarifications that you may find helpful:
- Substitutes will be assigned their own user names and passwords so that they can login on MISD computers.
- These user names and passwords will not give substitute teachers access to teachers’ files. The sub’s profile on the computer will be separate. There are other ways to share files, such as emailing them or leaving them on a flash drive.
- The online workshop shows participants how to turn on and login to a computer, turn on presentation equipment, utilize the document camera, access SAFARI Montage, and complete some basic functions in ActivInspire. These were the tasks that teachers said were among the most important for substitute teachers to know.
We will continue to keep you posted about this project as it develops.
Do you have more ideas to share? Please post them in the survey or add a comment to this blog.
