Frontier High School Update

Frontier High School’s schedule pickup earlier today drew 66 out of 77 seniors. Of these, 57 completed the iPad checkout process. One participant said, “Hey! That was easy!”

The process flowed smoothly because students came prepared. They completed the steps on the Student Checklist at

FHS is the test site for these procedures and the only school where students are getting iPads prior to the beginning of the school year.

Students at other MISD high school campuses can earn an iPass at schedule pickup that allows them to skip several time-consuming steps during the actual deployments at their schools.

I must say the students and parents were great today for the Ipad pick up.

  2. I have a comment. I want to do more project/problem based activities and have my students create presentations on the research and solutions they come up with.

The only problem is the IPADs DO NOT have any Powerpoint or equivilent programs installed on it.

When students had a laptop they easily created their presentations. Now I am starting to think I will have to start moving students to computer labs often to create their own presentations.

Can we have Office products installed on the IPADs?

    • Office products are available using virtual desktop infrastructure, which is the same as having a PC on your iPad. We’re working on that deployment now.
