Searchable App Bank Filters 50,000+ Education Apps

The Tennessee Board of Regents has launched Mobile App Education and Workforce Resource Center to help educators look for apps in their discipline. 50,000 hand-selected apps are already catalogued  searchable by education level (preK to Ph.D. to workforce careers), price, and platform. The resource center collects curated lists of apps from around the Web.

To search go to this link and look for the search box like the one below on the right-hand side of the web page.

  1. My kids have noticed the app store icon no longer on their iPad.. Will it remain to stay off? Is there a way for them to still download apps now? Thank you.. April,

    • If they don’t have any apps that are on the blacklist posted at, then they should have AppStore function back tomorrow once their iPads make contact with the Airwatch server.

I have found two neat Apps for an iPad, but I don’t know if I am able to download it without getting into trouble. It isn’t on the Blacklist as far as I know, but I am not sure if one of them will be.

    TuneIn (Radio)
    Graphing Calculator

I have TuneIn on my phone (work on Apples and Androids) and it really neat.
There is a lot of radio stations about “News, Talk, Sports, Comedy, Astronomy (pretty neat if students are interest in Astronomy), musics, religion musics I guess, and etc.”

Here’s the link to their apps.

Now for Graphing Calculator, as for as I can tell it is really good and MIGHT be able to replace our graphing calculator. Maybe not replace ALL of them, just some of them I guess.

Graphing Calculator App that I download has “Regular Calculator, Equations for Graph, Tablets, Reference (like it has “Definition of Sine, Cosine, Tangent, Unit Circle, Trig Functions in terms of Sine and Cosine, Pythagorean Identities and etc”
There is a Triangle Solver and Polynomial Solvers.

Here this link to their apps.

I want to know what you guys think if you are going to put it as a blacklist or not.

    • It’s not going to be practical for you to submit each app for preapproval. Use your best judgment. If there is any question about whether an app or content is appropriate, just don’t get it.

Okay, one more question. When you guys monitor our iPad, do you guys focus on visual on what are we doing or visual AND audio?
If it’s “visual” then I guess it’s appropriate, but if it is audio then I can’t download Tunein except Graphing Calculator.

      • There is no privacy on district-issued devices.
