App Store Update

There have been several comments about student iPads and the App Store.

Use of the App Store is suspended when a blacklisted app is installed on an iPad.

The most effective way to make sure that the App Store remains available is to refrain from installing one of those apps. The list of blacklisted apps is available at at

In some cases, the length of time required to restore the App Store after blacklisted apps have been deleted has been excessive. Sometimes, this has been due to re-installing that blacklisted app or installing others. In some cases, the device has not reported back to the compliance server.

Some changes to settings have been made that in tests have improved access to the compliance server both from within the District and from home. These changes are designed to more quickly remove restrictions when a device becomes compliant. These changes will also reduce the number of warnings posted before presence of a blacklisted app on a device triggers suspension of the App Store.
