Mansfield High School and Neal, Brown, and Sheppard Elementary Schools Place in TCEA Robotics Competition
On Saturday, January 12, Mansfield ISD teams posted strong performances at the TCEA Area X and XI Robotics Competition in Cedar Hill.
Twenty-nine MISD schools competed in the intermediate skill level division, and Mansfield High School competed in the advanced division.
Three MISD teams qualified for the state tournament:
- Brown Elementary School placed first in the Inventions event, in which students “develop a unique robotic invention that will solve a problem.” The team presented their ideas to a panel of judges for evaluation.
- Mansfield High School posted a strong second place finish in the Arena component of the competition, in which students program a robot that they have designed to complete predefined tasks.
- Tournament officials placed a team from Mary Jo Sheppard Elementary in the pool of teams from Region X, which contributed to the Colts also securing a bid to the state tournament.
In the intermediate skill level category, Nancy Neal Elementary placed third. This team may also qualify for a wildcard bid to the state tournament.
Congratulations to all of our robotics teams! We will post more team pictures as they come in!
