Technology Integration with Your iPad and the SAMR Model
One of the goals of technology integration is to transform learning. This year we’ve been introduced to a model that seems the easiest to understand and use to guide technology integration. It’s named SAMR (sam-are), which represents the levels of transformation: Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition. Technology integration is most easily begun at the Substitution level. As teachers explore the technology tools, gain skills and knowledge, and their comfort level increases, they can progress to using more transformative tools and planning learning activities for students that use these tools.
Some creative people have begun to organize Apps according to the SAMR model. Click on the graphic to the left to explore apps and SAMR ideas.
